At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
a1. Identify agents and factors that have been found to be carcinogenic.
b1. Compare the structure and function of the normal cell and the cancer cell.
b2. Differentiate between benign and malignant tumors
a2. Describe the significance of health education and preventive care in decreasing the incidence of cancer.
b3. Differentiate among the purposes of surgical procedures used in cancer treatment, diagnosis, prophylaxis, palliation and reconstruction.
a3. Describe the roles of surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, and other therapies in treating cancer.
a4. Describe the special nursing needs of patients receiving chemotherapy.
a5. Describe common nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems of patients with `cancer.
c1. Use the nursing process as a framework for care of patients with cancer.
b4. Describe the role of nurse in assessment and management of common oncologic emergencies.
